Playa del Carmen’s Quinta Avenida or Fifth Avenue is the main pedestrian thoroughfare that runs about four kilometers from north to south. If you’d like to stay in this part of town, look for hotels where you can get a balcony that provides ocean views, it is totally worth it.
In the Fifth Ave., you can find lots of restaurants, shopping destinations and fun things to do such as an visiting an aquarium with many water creatures, taking a tours, and having pictures taken with animals such as monkeys, tigers, and many more.
Staying close to Fifth Avenue means being able to walk anywhere you need to go, including to travel agencies where you can book day trips to nearby Mayan ruins, nature preserves, or the refreshing cenotes that are all over this region.
Mexico has recently passed a law to guarantee public beach access to all beaches in Mexico. That means that even if a beach is located on an exclusive resort, the beach area is “technically” still open to the public.
The beaches north of the ferry at Constituyentes and left from the ferry of Cozumel (Playacar) are generally better looking, clearer, and have the least amount of seaweed depending on the time of the year. The beaches in between the Cozumel ferry and the Constituyentes ferry are still nice, but usually the water is not as clear

Playa del Carmen receives a tropical climate with high temperatures and moderate rainfall year-round. There are pronounced wet and dry seasons with the highest temperatures occurring during the wet summer. June is not the best month to go as the weather that time won’t be ideal for vacations. The most daily sunshine hours are in August. It’s also important to note that the best time to visit is between February to May. June to October are the hottest months of the year with high chances of hurricanes. November to January is the cold weather season but that doesn’t stop tourists from coming.
