Cancun Hotel Zone
Also known as the “Zona Hotelera” or “Tourist Zone”, the Cancun Hotel Zone is a narrow 22km island strip where tourists spend most of their vacation in. The strip is lined with a wide assortment of hotels, resorts, and villas which provide unlimited access to the powdery white sand beaches in the area. Inside the long stretch of this island, you can find a vast lagoon called the Laguna Nichupté which is surrounded by numerous attractions, water sports venues, waterfront restaurants, a few Golf courses, shopping malls, and many more!
Tulum Hotel Zone
In a long colorful strip along the coast of Tulum, you can find the area’s famous Hotel Zone. The location’s fresh and natural environment provides guests with a refreshing change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Tulum Hotel Zone features eco-friendly accommodations with wind and solar-powered cottages. You can also explore the Sian Ka’an biosphere reserve which is located in the vicinity and immerse yourself in the tranquility of island life.
Playa El Cielo Cozumel
A little piece of heaven can be found in the southwestern tip of Cozumel island known as El Cielo which roughly translates to “Heaven” in Spanish. This shallow part right off the island’s coast is considered to be one of the best snorkeling spots in Cozumel. Playa El Cielo is quite known for the beauty of its aquatic life forms with an abundance of starfish, corals and dazzling crystal clear waters.
Playa Norte Isla Mujeres
Known as one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico, Playa Norte or otherwise called The North Beach is located on the northern edge of Isla Mujeres just off the coast of Cancun and is easily accessible with a ferry ride. Playa Norte is about 690 meters long lined with gleaming white sand bordering the turquoise blue waters of the Carribean.
Sea-fireflies in Holbox Island
Imagine a night where the moon can’t be seen and as you wade into the water, you are surrounded by tiny creatures glowing a bright blue or green hue turning the dark sea into an ocean of stars. This marvelous phenomenon is called bioluminescence and is caused by the plankton or sometimes called sea-fireflies in the water. The bioluminescent beaches can be found in Holbox Island just off the Yucatan coast. The top spot for swimming in bioluminescent waters in Holbox is at the southeastern tip of the island at a beach called Punta Cocos, conveniently located just a few minutes outside of the town.
Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve
As the largest protected area in the Mexican Carribean, the Sian Ka’an Biosphere reserve is also considered a UNESCO Heritage Site. Sian Ka’an is located at the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and is home to a biodiverse community of species, especially birds and marine life. It is also surrounded by lush green tropical forests, marshes, mangroves, and barrier reefs. It is indeed a sublime area of natural beauty as Sian Ka’an is home to thousands of species of flora and fauna, which is why the region became a designated Biosphere Reserve in 1986.
